Ladies and Gentlemen, it is now my duty and privilege to induct (number of member) ………… new members into the (name of club) ………………..
This is an important occasion, both for these new members and for the Club. Out of the good influence and experience of the Jamaica Tourist Board programmes, these individuals have joined a tourism club in an effort to improve their knowledge of the industry. We now have an opportunity to help them learn, grow and achieve. Their collective challenge is to help make this a strong club, one that can make a difference in their school and by extension in their country.
New Members, You are joining a National Organization that has helped small Jamaicans make a big difference in their lives. As members of the (name of club) ………………………… you will benefit from a proven programme of self-development. You will become part of an outstanding group of people who are dedicated to helping one another in a spirit of sharing and enjoyment.
By now you would have been given an opportunity to discuss your needs and goals with the Club and been told how the Tourism club works. You will know of the many benefits that you will receive, as well as the obligations of membership.
May I ask your faculty advisor to stand?
As Faculty Advisor(s), you have been asked to help these members get off to a good start. Do you accept this responsibility and pledge to share your knowledge and experience with the new members, so that they can immediately begin to benefit from their tourism membership?
(Give affirmative response)
As I call your name please come forward to collect your membership certificate then return to your position, but keep standing.
Membership in this Club and interaction with other Tourism Clubs, as well as interaction with the National Executive is a privilege that carries with it many rewards. Yet it also places certain obligations upon you. Your collective obligation is to grow and improve yourselves and to share your knowledge and experiences with fellow members in a spirit of enjoyment
This means you must work diligently toward your own self-development, assist the Club in reaching its goal … remain positive and always put your best foot forward.
We ask you the new members, to dedicate yourselves to personal growth, to share your talents with your fellow members and to help keep this Tourism Action Club strong and dynamic.
Please affirm your membership by repeating the following words:
I (Name of Student)………………………. , in the presence of my fellow members make this firm obligation; to attend meetings regularly and prepare fully for each assignment; … to apply myself to the program outlined in the Tourism Action Club’s Constitution; … to participate actively in club activities; … to evaluate others in a positive, constructive manner; … to build open, friendly relationships with my fellow members and to bring other new members into the club so that they can gain the benefits of Tourism Action Clubs.
