It is amazing how quickly time passes.  Nearly fifteen years ago, in 1995, the first Tourism Action Club (TAC) came into being at the Excelsior High School.  Since then, clubs have been formed in over seventy schools, forming a formidable group of young Jamaicans focussed on improving this vital industry.

I congratulate the young people and their teachers who continue to breathe life into the organization.  The Jamaica Tourist Board is proud to have provided the stimulus and to work with the students in forming this vibrant entity. 

In today’s technology rich society, having a website is a necessity for any organization, especially so for an entity where the members are in different locations.  The Tourism Action Club has had their website over a number of years but with time, technology has changed, and the needs of the website have also changed.   It is therefore necessary to change with the times.  This new website will extend the reach of the TAC.  It will go beyond serving as an information piece to become more interactive ... it will now serve as a teaching tool and as a means of easy interaction among the members ... in short, it will fit the lifestyle of today’s young people.

Big up to the “small Jamaicans making a big difference” as your motto goes.  You are indeed making a difference because some of those first members of the TAC are indeed making a mark in this industry and for our country.
