  • The Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) Essay Competition 2017

    The Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) Foundation invited students to enter the 2017 Children’s Essay Contest. The Competition is open to ALL Jamaican students falling in two categories:

    Junior Division for children 12 years and under

    Senior Division for children 13-16 years old 

     

    Each student submitted one essay with at least 500 words in length. The topic for this year’s competition was “WHAT WILL CRUISE SHIP PASSENGERS LEARN ABOUT MY COUNTRY? WHAT WILL THEY REMEMBER MOST AND HOLD WITH THEM?”

     

    Jaden-Tyler Gayle from Sts. Peter & Paul Preparatory School was selected as the local winner for the Junior Division and Lindsay Harley from St. Andrew High School for Girls was selected was selected as the local winner for the Senior Division. Both winners will receive US $200.00 from the FCCA Foundation for their submission in the competition. 

     

    Important to note was the International Prize Awards. The FCCA will award cash scholarships to both the student and the school. The Junior Division winners will receive cash prizes for 1st Place US $3,000, 2nd Place US $1,500 and 3rd Place US $1,000. The Senior Division winners will receive cash prizes for 1st Place US $3,000, 2nd Place US $1,500 and 3rd Place US $1,000. The amounts were allotted to both students and schools. In addition, the two first place international winners (one from each age category) will be invited to accept their prizes at the FCCA Caribbean Cruise Conference in Merida, Mexico – October 23 – 27, 2017. All travel expenses for each international winner and one chaperone will be paid for by the FCCA.
